Canadian Nik Stauskas scored a franchise record 57 points as the Grand Rapids Gold beat the Wisconsin Herd 131-127 in NBA G League action on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old Stauskas, from Mississauga, Ont., ended up tying for sixth for most points in a G League game.

His 38 first-half points was a G League record as Stauskas was good on his first 12 shots from the field. The 38 points matched his career high.

Selected eighth overall by the Sacramento Kings in 2014, Stauskas has struggled to carve out a spot in the NBA.

The Michigan product has played for six NBA teams, including two games for the Miami Heat this season.

Stauskas went to Spain to open the 2019-20 season before returning to the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Toronto Raptors were poised to sign Stauskas as a replacement player on a 10-day deal earlier this season during a COVID wave, but the Canadian contracted the virus before he joined the team.
