The Denver Nuggets seem to have found some bulletin-board material.
Head coach David Adelman responded to Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels' assertion that his players are "all bad defenders" on Wednesday.
"I can't wait for his podcast," Adelman said. "It'll help his social media."
After the Timberwolves' Game 2 win on Monday, McDaniels pretty much labelled all Nuggets players as bad defenders. Thrown in there were all-stars Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.
“Go after Jokic, Jamal, all the bad defenders,” said McDaniels, who had 14 points and three assists. "Tim Hardaway (Jr.), Cam Johnson, Aaron Gordon, the whole team, just go at them.”
So they're all bad defenders?
“Yeah, they’re all bad defenders,” McDaniels added.
Denver finished 10th-worst in defensive rating during the regular season, coughing up 116 points per 100 possessions. Through two playoff games, its rating sits at 109, sixth-best in the league.
"I think narrative's really interesting too, like, you hear so many thing and we've gotten really lazy in society. What's our defensive rating in this series?" Adelman said, prompting the answer from a reporter. "OK. Next."
Next is Game 3, which goes Thursday.
