The NBA announced Friday that Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown had been fined $25,000 for making an inappropriate gesture during a game.
The incident happened during the first quarter of the Celtics' 130-120 win at home over the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday.
After jamming down a slam dunk, Brown appeared to make a throat-slashing gesture at Pistons centre Isaiah Stewart.
The three-time All-Star and reigning Finals MVP finished with a game-high 28 points along with six rebounds, nine assists and three steals.
Boston Globe writer Gary Washburn asked Brown after the game if he expected to hear from the league about the incident. Brown replied, "Oh yeah."
The defending champion Celtics are second in the Eastern Conference with an 18-4 record.
