If you were a fan of one of the higher-seeded teams hosting a Game 1 matchup as the NBA Playoffs got underway, you probably felt pretty satisfied after the first weekend of action.
All eight home teams came out victorious, making it the first time since 2013 that round one started 8-0 in favour of the hosts. In the East, the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers came out on top. In the West, the Oklahoma City Thunder, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Clippers took care of business.
It's also just the second time it's happened since this century, the other time home teams went 8-0 to start the NBA playoffs was in 2004.
Talk about chalky.
In the NHL the home teams also started 6-0. It seems as though sports can be predictable sometimes.
It's not just that the home team won every Game 1 in the NBA, most games weren't particularly close. The average margin of victory was 10.8 points and six out of eight games were decided by double-digits.
Out West, Minnesota handed out the biggest loss of all the Game 1's beating Phoenix 120-95 on Saturday. Meanwhile, Boston made light work of Miami who was without Jimmy Butler, beating them 114-94 on Sunday.
Thankfully the final game of the weekend provided some much-needed reprieve from the lopsided outcomes. Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder capped off the 8-0 run for home teams, but narrowly escaped with a 94-92 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
On the same day he was named a finalist of league MVP and clutch player of the year, Gilgeous-Alexander gave fans the shot of the weekend when he hit a game-sealing and-one jumper in the final seconds of their victory.
It was the closest game out of all eight opening contests and hopefully a sign of things to come.
Granted, teams to win Game 1 in a best-of-seven series in the NBA go on to advance 75.3 per cent of the time. Things may end up staying pretty chalky but the games have to play out to see if that'll be the case.
For what it's worth, three lower-seeded teams did end up advancing in 2013 after going down 0-1 to start the first round, so there's still hope for a couple of upsets.
The immediate question is, who'll be the first road team to pick up a win this post-season?
