The scuffling Charlotte Hornets will be without their second-leading scorer for the remainder of the season.
Brandon Miller underwent surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist and will miss the rest of the 2024-25 schedule, the team announced on Thursday.
The sophomore guard was averaging 21.0 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 3.6 assists over 27 games played this season. He was also knocking down 3.9 triples a game, the fifth-most in the NBA.
Miller was one of just four players averaging at least 10 three-point attempts per game this season, along with Boston's Jayson Tatum, Golden State's Stephen Curry, and teammate LaMelo Ball.
The 22-year-old's absence will surely be a meaningful loss a Charlotte team that was building some momentum. The Hornets had won four of their last six games following a 10-game losing skid.
The No. 2 overall pick from the 2023 draft has averaged 18.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists while shooting 36.6 per cent from distance over his 101 career games.
Miller had already missed three consecutive games with the wrist injury prior to Thursday's announcement.
The Hornets (11-29, 13th in the East) return to action, without their second star, on Friday as they host the Portland Trailblazers in Charlotte.
