The NBA has fined the Brooklyn Nets $50,000 for violating local New York City health and safety protocols.

During Brooklyn's 110-107 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday, the Nets allowed Kyrie Irving in the team locker room, which contravened local law and protocols.

Irving is allowed to attend games at Barclays Center but cannot enter the workplace environment. According to local policy, the workplace environment includes the Nets' court and locker room.

Nets forward Kevin Durant released a statement following his team's fine. After Sunday's game, Durant called out New York City mayor Eric Adams on local vaccine policy.

"My frustration with the situation doesn't change the fact that I will always be committed to helping the communities and cities I live in, and play in," Durant said in the statement.

The unvaccinated Irving has only featured in 18 games for the Nets this season, averaging 25.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.4 assists.
