Herb Jones' season is officially over.
The forward underwent successful surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in his right shoulder and will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season, the New Orleans Pelicans announced on Wednesday.
Jones, 26, originally suffered the injury in a loss to the Portland Trailblazers on Jan. 8. Since then, he's missed 15 consecutive contests for the Pelicans.
The third-year man also missed 18 games earlier in the season due to an injury to the same shoulder. He has played in 20 of New Orleans' 38 games this season, averaging 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.9 steals in 32.4 minutes per game.
Jones is expected to make a full recovery.
Selected in the second round — 35th overall — by New Orleans in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jones has appeared in 240 career games for the Pelicans and last season was named NBA All-Defensive First Team.
His injury punctuates a Pelicans' season marred by injuries. New Orleans is one of just seven teams with over 200 man-games missed, per Spotrac. The news of Jones' season being over comes less than two weeks after it was announced that Dejounte Murray was done for the year because of a torn Achilles. Meanwhile, former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson has only played 17 games due to a lingering hamstring issue and is currently listed as day-to-day, despite having played in the team's last four games.
