Free-agent guard Austin Rivers has agreed to a three-year deal worth $10 million with the New York Knicks, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The deal was originally reported as being for one year.
Rivers has spent the last two seasons of his career with the Houston Rockets, where he's filled the role of a solid backup guard behind the likes of Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook.
As one of the few teams this off-season who began free agency with a significant amount of cap space, New York has missed out on the marquee names and is now looking for ways to spend that space. Simply filling out the young roster with short-term contracts to create depth for the upcoming year presently appears to be the plan.
Last season, Rivers averaged 8.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.7 assists on 42.1 per cent shooting in 23.4 minutes.
