Guard Jalen Brunson is poised to sign a four-year, $110 million deal with the New York Knicks in a major free agency splash, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The free agency period officially opens on Thursday at 6 p.m. ET.
Brunson averaged career highs with 16.3 points and 4.8 assists per game for the Dallas Mavericks last season.
Charania reports the Mavericks never got a chance to make an offer.
Brunson elevated his game in the playoffs for the Mavericks, averaging 21.6 points, including a career-high 41-point performance in the first round against Utah.
Selected in the second round (33rd overall) out of Villanova in the 2018 NBA Draft, the six-foot-one Brunson won two national championships in college.
Brunson had been linked to the Knicks heading into free agency.
Knicks president Leon Rose is his former agent and his current agent is Rose's son, Sam.
The Knicks cleared out more than $30 million in cap space to make a run at Brunson.
