The Atlanta Hawks signed forward Jalen Johnson to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.
Although terms of the agreement were not disclosed, ESPN's Shams Charania reported it's a five-year, $150-million rookie-scale deal.
“Jalen Johnson embodies the characteristics we look for as an organization, both on and off the court,” Hawks general manager Landry Fields said in a release. “He has shown continuous improvement each year and has the character and the work ethic to continue to grow his game. He has developed into a significant part of our team and we’re thrilled to continue his development in Atlanta.”
Johnson was selected 20th overall by Atlanta in the 2021 NBA Draft.
After a slower start to his career in his first two seasons, Johnson had a breakout 2023-24 campaign, averaging 16 points per contest which was a drastic increase from his 5.6 figure in 2022-23.
The 22-year-old was also an asset on the glass last year, grabbing 8.7 rebounds per game.
