The New York Knicks' search for a new head coach is off to a rocky start.
New York was denied permission to interview Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch and Houston Rockets coach Ime Udoka for their vacant job, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Tuesday.
The Knicks are in search of a new bench boss after parting ways with head coach Tom Thibodeau after losing to the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Thibodeau was 226-174 in five seasons in New York which included taking the Knicks to their first conference finals since 2000 this season.
With Finch and Udoka unavailable, Charania reported that the Knicks could request interviews with other current head coaches as well.
One name that has been speculated to be on the Knicks' radar is Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, but according to Charania, the Mavs would also reject an interview request from New York.
