Report: Marc Gasol's deal with Lakers worth $5.3M over two years

NBA insider Alvin Williams joins Lead Off to discuss why he doesn't rank the current Raptors as an upper echelon team in the Eastern Conference, after two huge losses in the front court.

Marc Gasol's officially signed his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the deal is worth $5.4 million over two years.

Gasol's two-year deal with the Lakers was first reported on Sunday, however financial terms were not known at the time.

The 35-year-old Spaniard joins a Lakers team that has been busy in the early days of NBA free agency, adding reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell and Wesley Matthews while re-signing Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Markieff Morris.

A three-time All-Star and 2012-13 Defensive Player of the Year, Gasol played a crucial role in the Toronto Raptors' first-ever NBA championship in 2019. However, in 44 games last season with the Raptors, he averaged a career-low 7.5 points and 6.3 rebounds.
