The longest-tenured Knick is on the move.
Centre Mitchell Robinson has reportedly agreed to a three-year, $47.4 million deal with the Boston Celtics, per ESPN's Shams Charania on Wednesday.
The deal includes a player option in the third year.
Robinson's time with the defending champion New York Knicks, the team that took him 36th overall in 2018, comes to an end after eight seasons.
The 27-year-old averaged 7.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks on 70.2 per cent shooting through 397 regular-season games. The oft-injured Robinson joins the Celtics on the heels of his healthiest season since he was a sophomore (2019-20), playing in 60 games and averaging 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks, while shooting 72.3 per cent from the field.
Robinson also played a pivotal role for New York off the bench en route to its first championship in 53 years. The 7-footer averaged 4.8 points and 5.5 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game. In the Knicks series-clinching win against the San Antonio Spurs, Robinson grabbed 10 rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench, including a key board off a missed Knicks free-throw in the closing moments.
He now joins a Celtics team that was in need of an upgrade at centre after rolling out a rotation of Neemias Queta, Luka Garza and Nikola Vucevic last season.
