The New York Knicks were not too eager to make their first pick of the 2026 NBA Draft.
The NBA Champions traded the No. 24 overall pick to the Los Angeles Lakers for the 25th pick and cash considerations, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.
With the 24th pick, the Lakers took Baylor's Cameron Carr. The guard averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 49.4 per cent from the field and 37.4 per cent from three in his junior year.
Carr spent his first two collegiate seasons with Tennessee, but only found success with the Bears. The six-foot-five guard was named to the 2025-26 All-Big 12 Team after starting in all 34 games he appeared in.
The Knicks selected Spanish forward Sergio De Larrea at No. 25, but he wasn't with the team for long. New York shipped De Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks for the No. 30 overall selection, Arizona's Koa Peat, and two second-round picks, per Charania.
But the Knicks still weren't done; they then traded Peat to the Phoenix Suns for three second-rounders and cash, Charania added. Among those picks is No. 47 in the 2026 draft, so New York now has picks 31, 47 and 55 on Wednesday.
