Veteran forward Nicolas Batum plans to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers after he clears waivers on Sunday, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Per Charania, multiple contenders were prepared to pursue Batum once the Hornets made clear he could be waived, but the Clippers will be the ones to ultimately bring him aboard.
The last two seasons have seen Batum deal with multiple injuries (he only played 22 games in 2019-20) that have derailed his production. At his best, though, the 31-year-old is a versatile player who provides playmaking and an extra scoring punch, something the Clippers could use if he returns to form.
Charlotte waived Batum in order to clear the way for Gordon Hayward, who agreed to a four-year, $120 million deal with the team back on Nov. 21, to formally sign his contract.
