The New Orleans Pelicans plan to enter the race to sign Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry in free agency, according to Marc Stein.
The NBA champion and six-time NBA all-star will enter free agency this off-season, after averaging 17.2 points and 7.3 assists per game last season despite the Raptors lacklustre 27-45 record that missed the play-in tournament for the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
Of his 15 seasons in the league, Lowry has spent nine seasons in Toronto, with all six of his All-Star nods coming from his time as a Raptor.
With the firing of head coach Stan Van Gundy, the Pelicans have shown they are serious about wanting to reach the playoffs and are doing so by hunting for a companion to pair with star forward Zion Williamson who averaged a monster 27 points per game in 61 games during the 2020-2021 season.
