A former second-overall pick can say he was a member of the Toronto Raptors for at least a few seconds.
The Raptors announced Thursday they acquired James Wiseman and cash considerations from the Indiana Pacers for draft considerations (a top-55 protected second-round pick). In the same announcement, Toronto said it had waived Wiseman.
Wiseman, 23, is out for the season after tearing his left Achilles in October. He is on a minimum contract with a $2.2 million cap hit this season and has a $2.5 million club option for 2025-26.
Drafted second overall in 2020 by the Golden State Warriors, Wiseman has bounced around the league over his five-year career.
The Warriors traded him to the Detroit Pistons two years ago, and he joined the Pacers in free agency over the off-season.
Wiseman is averaging 9.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game across 148 career contests.
