As the Toronto Raptors potentially reunite with one member of their 2019 championship team, another is staying put in his new digs.
Fred VanVleet will opt in to his $25-million contract with the Houston Rockets next season, ESPN's Shams Charania reported on Monday.
VanVleet, 32, missed last season with a torn ACL.
The six-foot point guard, however, excelled in his first two campaigns with the Rockets prior to injury, helping turn a young team into a playoff contender.
In 2024-25, VanVleet scored 14.1 points per game while adding 5.6 assists and shooting 34.5 per cent from beyond the arc.
He'll return to a Houston lineup to play for the first time with Kevin Durant, who joined the team last season, as well as reunite with young stars such as Alperen Sengun and Amen Thompson.
VanVleet is scheduled to reach unrestricted free agency next summer.
