After a successful season in the Mile High City, Russell Westbrook is heading back to the West Coast.
The nine-time NBA all-star has agreed to a deal with the Sacramento Kings, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Wednesday.
It is a one-year, $3.6-million contract according to NBA insider Chris Haynes.
Westbrook averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals while playing a key role off the bench for the Denver Nuggets in 2024-25.
The 36-year-old will help provide guard depth after the Kings traded De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs at last season's trade deadline.
Westbrook is expected to join the team later this week, according to Charania.
The former MVP is the NBA's all-time leader in triple-doubles, but has transitioned to a bench role in recent years, playing 145 of 216 games off the bench over the last three seasons.
The change in role has come with an increase in efficiency, as Westbrook's 51.7 per cent from two-point range last season was a career high.
Sacramento will be the seventh team Westbrook plays for as he enters his 18th season. He has previously suited up for the Nuggets, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers.
