The Miami Heat are retaining an important piece as they look to build out the roster around blockbuster acquisition Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Forward Andrew Wiggins is set to re-sign with the Heat on a three-year, $64 million deal, ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday.
The deal includes a player option in the final season, per Charania.
Wiggins, of Vaughn, Ont., has spent the last season-and-a-half in Miami after joining the team as part of the trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Golden State Warriors.
In his first full season with the Heat, he averaged 15.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 47.5 per cent from the field and 41.4 per cent from three-point range. He added 1.1 steals and one block per game in 68 appearances.
A one-time NBA champ from his time with the Warriors, retaining Wiggins was a priority for Miami, which reportedly parted ways with Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kasparas Jakučionis in the deal for Antetokounmpo.
Since being drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2014, Wiggins has averaged 18.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 834 games over 12 seasons.
