The Oklahoma City Thunder will be without their star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander for the foreseeable future.
Gilgeous-Alexander was added to the injury report on Wednesday due to right foot plantar fasciitis and did not suit up for the Thunder's tilt with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Oklahoma City coach Mark Daigneault explained that it is not a maintenance-related absence for the guard and that it is an injury the team will be careful with.
"It's not day-to-day, it's going to be a more significant amount of time... this one is an injury that we need to take a look at," said Daigneault.
The Thunder coach also relayed that the injury was more likely from wear and tear over the season, rather than a singular play.
"It sounds like it was a little bit more cumulative, I don't think it's something that happened on a particular play," added Daigneault.
Gilgeous-Alexander, a Toronto native, has been having his best year as a pro, leading the Thunder in both points (23.7) and assists (5.9) per game.
Oklahoma City currently sits 12th in the West with a 19-24 record.
