The Minnesota Timberwolves could welcome back their leading scorer sooner than originally expected.
Anthony Edwards has been cleared for on-court basketball activities, and has also been upgraded to questionable for Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday, the Timberwolves announced.
Edwards suffered a left-knee hyperextension — after an awkward landing — in Game 4 against the Denver Nuggets and missed the final two games of their first-round series.
Aside from his five points in 17 minutes of Game 4 before his injury, Edwards was averaging 23 points, eight rebounds, four assists and 1.7 blocks in the first three games of the opening round.
The four-time all-star averaged 28.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 61 regular-season appearances.
Minnesota will certainly need Edward's scoring punch against the Spurs No.3-ranked defence, especially after losing starting guard Donte DiVincenzo to injury for the rest of the playoffs.
