Los Angeles Lakers star forward Anthony Davis is expected to play for the first time since mid-December on Wednesday if he doesn’t experience any setbacks before the team faces the San Antonio Spurs, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reports.
Davis has been out since suffering a fractured bone spur and stress reaction in his right foot on Dec. 16.
McMenamin says Davis will be limited to 20-24 minutes per game at first.
Davis is averaging 27.4 points on 59.4 per cent shooting and 12.1 rebounds in 25 games this season.
An eight-time NBA All-Star, Davis helped the Lakers win the league championship in 2020 in his first year of the team after being acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.
The Lakers (22-26) are 12th in the Western Conference this season.
