The NFL and NFL Players Association announced Tuesday that four players and six team personnel tested positive for COVID-19 from Aug. 21-29.
Over that timeframe, 58,621 tests were administered to 8,739 players and team personnel. A joint statement from the league and players association says the individuals who test positive “are immediately isolated, not permitted access club facilities, or have direct contact with players or personnel.”
While still a small fraction of positive tests, these results mark an uptick from the NFL’s last period of testing from Aug. 12-20 when zero players and six team personnel tested positive.
The NFL season is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 10 as the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Houston Texans. A full 13-game schedule follows on Sept. 13, and then Week 1 is capped by a Monday night doubleheader.
