2022 NHL draft lottery will be held on May 10

The NHL draft lottery will be remote and held May 10.

The 16 teams that failed to make the playoffs will be included in the draft lottery, with weighted odds for those teams toward the bottom of the overall league standings.

The Buffalo Sabres won last year's draft lottery, using the No. 1 pick to take Canadian phenom Owen Power.

The NHL Entry Draft this year is scheduled to be July 7-8 in Montreal. The consensus No. 1 pick this year is Kingston Frontenacs scorer Shane Wright.

Whether the Montreal Canadiens, the Arizona Coyotes, or another lucky team altogether will have the chance to draft him will become clear at the lottery — and every moment can be seen on Sportsnet. Live coverage will start at 6:30 p.m. ET / 3:30 p.m. PT.
