Blackhawks have interest in Raptors VP of Basketball Operations Teresa Resch for GM job

Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse discusses the Chicago Blackhawks' reported interest in current Raptors VP of basketball operations and player development Teresa Resch for their new GM position.

As the Chicago Blackhawks began their GM search, the organization indicated it would be interviewing candidates outside of hockey.

One was Cubs assistant GM Jeff Greenberg, confirmed by the team last week. Another appears to be Toronto Raptors Vice-President of Basketball Operations & Player Development Teresa Resch.

Part of the staff that won an NBA championship in 2019, Resch joined the Raptors in 2013. She comes with a good reputation; her responsibilities involving both basketball and business operations, including scouting. Resch previously spent five years at the league’s head office.

"It doesn't surprise me at all that she would be a candidate and got interviewed, and it wouldn't surprise me at all, if that's what she wants to do, if she got offered the job," Raptors coach Nick Nurse said. "Super high-level visionary-type thinker, long-term planner. Is right there by our leaders' sides making all the big decisions on a lot of things. Practice facilities. All-star weekends. Oversees games and all those things. So she's got a really good feel for running a big-time organization."

To this point, the Blackhawks have announced the candidates interviewed for the position: incumbent Kyle Davidson along with Peter Chiarelli, Mathieu Darche, Scott Mellanby and Eric Tulsky. The timeline for a decision is unclear.
