Logan Mailloux will miss a good chunk of time to begin the 2026-27 season.
The St. Louis Blues defenceman has been placed on the injured reserve and will miss at least eight weeks following surgery on his right hand, the team announced on Monday.
Mailloux suffered the hand injury when he fought the Chicago Blackhawks' Cole Smith in Saturday's pre-season contest.
The 23-year-old was set to begin his second season in St. Louis after being acquired from the Montreal Canadiens last off-season.
Mailloux posted five goals and eight assists while being a minus-10 in 67 games last campaign.
The Blues also placed defenceman Tyler Tucker on the injured reserve with a lower-body injury. Tucker is considered to be week-to-week.
