The ancillary pieces in the high-profile Trent Frederic trade are starting to take shape.
As part of the three-team trade, the Boston Bruins have sent left-winger Max Jones and unsigned draft choice Petr Hauser to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for AHL defenceman Max Wanner, a 2025 St. Louis Blues second-round pick and a 2026 Oilers fourth-round pick, the teams announced Tuesday.
Jones, 27, has played in only seven games at the NHL level this season since joining the Bruins on a two-year deal in the off-season as a free agent. He has been held pointless in those outings but has three blocked shots and 14 hits over an average of 10:01 ice time.
He has suited up for 38 contests with the Providence Bruins, Boston's AHL affiliate. He has 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points in those outings.
He had previously spent the last six years of his career with the Anaheim Ducks since being drafted by the organization 24th overall in 2016.
Hauser, 21, is currently playing for the Vitkovice Hockey Club in his native Czechia. The right-winger has one goal and three assists in 16 games. He was drafted in the fifth round, 141st overall, by the Devils in the 2022 draft.
Wanner, meanwhile, has suited up for 22 games for the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL and has one goal and one assist. The Saskatchewan native was drafted in the seventh round, 212th overall, in the 2021 draft.
