Montreal Canadiens defenceman David Savard will miss the next eight weeks with what the club is calling an injury to his right ankle.
The club made the announcement after Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers.
Savard has one goal and eight assists for nine points in 42 games. He is also minus-17 and averages 20:43 in ice time per game.
The Canadiens (8-28-7) are currently last in the league with 23 points.
