The Montreal Canadiens drafted the grandson of a hockey legend Saturday.
With the 189th overall pick in Round 6 of the 2026 NHL Draft, the Canadiens selected Parker Trottier, whose grandfather is Hall of Famer Bryan Trottier.
Parker, 18, is a left winger and has spent the last two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program.
He has committed to play for the University of Notre Dame in the NCAA starting in 2027-28.
The elder Trottier spent 18 seasons in the National Hockey League with the New York Islanders and then the Pittsburgh Penguins, winning the Stanley Cup six times.
He also won the Art Ross, Calder, Conn Smythe, Hart and King Clancy trophies once each during his career.
Over 1,279 career games, he recorded 1,425 points. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997.
