Vancouver Canucks forward Tanner Pearson has been placed on injured reserve, general manager Patrik Allvin announced. In the meantime, the Canucks have called up forward Sheldon Dries from their AHL affiliate in Abbotsford.
Pearson was unable to finish Wednesday's loss to the Montreal Canadiens and Sportsnet's Dan Murphy reported that he had injured his left hand.
Before the injury Pearson had been struggling on the ice with one goal and five points for the Canucks through 14 games. The time off may serve to his benefit where he can hit the reset button and come back a stronger player.
Dries has four points in two games this year for Abbotsford and has recorded one assist in the four games he’s already played for Vancouver this season.
The Canucks are 4-7-3 on the season and next play Saturday in Toronto on Hockey Night in Canada.
