The Washington Capitals retained one of their young forwards.
Hendrix Lapierre has re-signed on a one-year, one-way contract worth $850,000, the team announced on Sunday.
Last season, the 25-year-old forward split time between the Capitals and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Lapierre recorded eight assists with the big club in 27 games, and added 32 points (seven goals, 25 assists) in 32 AHL games.
The six-foot forward's best season was in 2023-24, when he registered 22 points (8g, 14a) in 51 NHL games before helping Hershey win the Calder Cup while winning the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the Calder Cup Playoffs MVP.
Washington selected Lapierre with the 22nd pick in the 2022 draft.
