The Philadelphia Flyers and Sean Couturier are seeking a second opinion after the forward started feeling pain in his surgically repaired back after a skate.

Anthony SanFilippo of Crossing Broad reported that the injury could sideline Couturier for at least 12 weeks. Couturier reportedly suffered a herniated disc in his back during strength and conditioning drills last week.

The 29-year-old underwent successful back surgery back in February that forced him to miss the rest of the 2021-22 season. Couturier had recorded six goals and 11 assists for 17 points in 29 games last season.

The Flyers signed forwards Artem Anisimov and Antoine Roussel to professional tryouts, with training camps opening this week.
