"Brian is a quality, veteran goaltender who is also an important part of our leadership group. His preparation and work ethic are exemplary," Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher said in a team release. "With Brian and Carter, we believe we have a strong goaltending duo who have each had success and work very well with each other."
Elliott, 35, served as backup to Carter Hart last season and started 27 games for the Flyers, posting a 16-7-4 record with a 2.87 goals-against average and a .899 save percentage.
"I'm proud to remain with the Flyers," Elliott said. "I believe in this group and I'm excited for the future and what we can do as a team."
A veteran of 13 NHL seasons, Elliott has suited up for five different teams over the course of his career – including the last three seasons in Philadelphia. The New Market, Ont., native was drafted in the ninth round of the 2003 draft by the Ottawa Senators and has a 241-146-47 career-record with a 2.50 GAA and .921 save percentage.
