The Vegas Golden Knights aren't getting their second-round pick back.
After appealing to NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, the Golden Knights' punishment of $100,000 to coach John Tortorella and a second-rounder for skipping media after Game 6 against the Anaheim Ducks was upheld, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on Tuesday.
While there could be some room for adjustment in the future, it is unlikely the draft pick would be restored to Vegas, per Friedman.
Tortorella did not make himself available to media after last Thursday's win over the Ducks and the Golden Knights did not open their locker room to reporters. Mitch Marner and Brett Howden took questions from media at the podium, with the players quipping the team bus was leaving in 10 minutes.
Neither the Golden Knights nor Tortorella provided an official explanation as to why they ducked reporters.
However, according to Friedman, the Golden Knights were frustrated by Brayden McNabb's one-game suspension for interference earlier in the series.
Vegas returns to the ice when it opens its West Final against the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT).
