The defending Stanley Cup champs are keeping Juuso Valimaki in the organization.
The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed the defenceman to a one-year, $900,000 deal on Wednesday, the team announced.
Valimaki, 27, didn't appear in a game for the Hurricanes last season after being acquired on Jan. 5 from the Utah Mammoth.
The Finnish defenceman had five goals and nine assists in the AHL playoffs to help the Chicago Wolves reach the Calder Cup Finals against the Toronto Marlies.
Valimaki has appeared in 271 career NHL games with the Mammoth, Arizona Coyotes and Calgary Flames, recording 11 goals and 61 assists.
The Flames selected Valimaki with the 16th overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
