Bo Horvat's off-season will get off to a late start.
The New York Islanders forward is out four to six weeks after suffering an ankle injury at the hockey world championship, general manager Mathieu Darche said on Thursday.
Horvat, the 30-year-old from London, Ont., left Team Canada ahead of its final group-stage game. The Canadians would go on to lose against Denmark in the quarterfinals.
Horvat played in six games for Canada, recording four goals, two of them game winners, as well as four assists.
He was coming off a season that saw him total 57 points (28 goals and 29 assists) in 81 games and is under contract on Long Island through the 2030-31 season at $8.5 million per year.
