The New York Islanders are locking up one of their blue-liners.
Defenceman Ethan Bear signed a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Monday.
The 28-year-old played 40 games for the AHL's Bridgeport Islanders last season, recording four goals and 27 points.
Bear joined the Islanders organization on a one-year deal in 2025 after playing for two seasons in the Washington Capitals system.
He last played in the NHL in the 2023-24 season, where he had one goal and five points in 24 games with the Capitals.
Selected in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, Bear has also played for the Vancouver Canucks and Carolina Hurricanes.
