Jack Campbell to get start for Maple Leafs against Flyers

Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe says yes the plan is for Jack Campbell to return to the net for Saturday's game vs. Philly, and says he looks very refreshed at practice these days, and anticipates he'll look the same in games.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will have Jack Campbell between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Campbell has been out since March 8 with a rib injury that he initially suffered against the Columbus Blue Jackets and tried to play through. The 30-year-old was lights out early in the season to earn the first all-star nod of his career, but has an .872 save percentage since Jan. 8.

The news of Campbell's return couldn't have come at a better time for the Leafs, who lost Petr Mrazek for at least six weeks with a groin injury — his third of the season — which he suffered Tuesday in Boston against the Bruins.

Rookie netminder Erik Kallgren stepped up with Campbell and Mrazek sidelined, going 4-2-1 with a 2.71 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage in seven appearances.

Defenceman Jake Muzzin will join the Leafs on their road trip after taking part in practice this week. Keefe said the 33-year-old is nearing a return from his second concussion of the season that he suffered on Feb. 21 against the Montreal Canadiens.

The Leafs start a four-game road trip against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. The trip also includes a back-to-back against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Florida Panthers.
