The Winnipeg Jets are signing defender Derek Forbort on a one-year, $1-million deal, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.

Forbort split the 2019-20 season between Calgary and Los Angeles, suiting up for seven games with the Flames and 13 with the Kings. The 28-year-old also logged five games with the AHL's Ontario Reign.

He spent the previous four seasons with the Kings, and parts of the three years prior at the AHL level in Manchester. His finest campaign in the NHL came in 2017-18, when he logged 18 points in 78 games for L.A. and averaged a career-high 20:47 minutes of ice per night.

A 15th-overall pick back in 2010, Forbort spent three years at the University of North Dakota before moving on to his pro career.
