Cale Fleury won't be leaving the Emerald City anytime soon.
The Seattle Kraken made sure of it, signing the veteran defenceman to a two-year, one-way contract extension on Friday.
Fleury's deal will hold an AAV of $890,000 and start in the 2025-26 season.
"Cale's been an important player in our organization," said Kraken general manager Jason Botterill in a statement from the team. "He's developed into a steady and reliable defenceman, and we're happy to have him under contract for the next two years."
The 26-year-old is coming off his fifth year in the NHL, making 14 regular-season appearances with the Kraken in 2024-25. Fleury logged one assist and finished plus-1 in that span.
Meanwhile, he spent the majority of the season in the AHL, serving as an alternate captain for the Coachella Valley Firbirds. Through 39 regular-season games, Fleury logged seven goals and 19 assists, even earning a spot on the 2025 AHL Pacific Division all-stars roster.
The six-foot-one, 204-pound blue-liner was originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the third round (87th overall) of the 2017 NHL draft. He went on to play 41 games for the club throughout 2019-20 before the Kraken eventually selected him in the expansion draft two seasons later.
Fleury has been with Seattle for four seasons now, having previously re-signed with the club as a free agent on a two-year deal in 2023. He's totalled three points through 77 career NHL games between the Kraken and Canadiens.
At the AHL level, Fleury has tallied 129 points (32 goals, 97 assists) through 258 appearances. He's also notched 17 points through 28 Calder Cup Playoff appearances — recognized in 2023-24 for the most points by a defenceman in the AHL playoffs.
