The Tampa Bay Lightning signed forward Scott Sabourin to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Sunday.
Sabourin, 32, spent the majority of last season with the San Jose Sharks' AHL affiliate, the San Jose Barracuda, posting 10 goals and 25 points while serving as an alternate captain through 68 appearances.
The six-foot-four, 207-pound forward made one NHL appearance with the Sharks last year, logging zero points and finishing minus-two in 10:27 of ice time.
Sabourin has played a total of 47 NHL games in the span of five seasons, spending time with the Ottawa Senators (42 games) on two separate occasions, the Toronto Maple Leafs (one game) and the Sharks (four games). He's registered two goals and eight points and was a minus-10 in that span.
The Orleans, Ont., native has made 532 AHL appearances between the Barracuda, Belleville Senators, Toronto Marlies, Stockton Heat, San Diego Gulls, Iowa Wild, Ontario Reign and Manchester Monarchs — racking up 88 goals and 181 points along the way.
Sabourin originally went undrafted before signing a three-year, entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings in 2013. The now 32-year-old later made his NHL debut in 2019 with the Senators against the Maple Leafs, scoring his first goal on his first shot.
