Dylan Larkin scored two goals, including the overtime winner, as the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-5 in the pre-season finale.
Larkin's OT winner came on the power play after Leafs defenceman Phillipe Myers was called for a high stick. Detroit's captain scored his first power-play marker with less than three minutes to play in regulation to cut Toronto's lead to one.
Michael Brandsegg-Nygard also notched two goals for the Red Wings, who open their season on Thursday against Montreal. John Gibson stopped 20 shots in the win.
Logan Shaw and Nicholas Robertson scored within two minutes of each other to give the Maple Leafs a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Michael Pezzetta and Cedric Pare each added a goal and an assist.
Dennis Hildeby got the start for Toronto, and made 12 saves on 14 shots. James Reimer, who's with the Maple Leafs on a professional tryout, stopped 22-of-27 shots in relief.
It was Reimer's first appearance in his second stint with the Buds. He was drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 draft by Toronto, and spent six seasons manning the crease for the Blue and White. His last appearance came in 2016.
The Maple Leafs host the Canadiens on Wednesday to begin the regular season.
