Head coach Sheldon Keefe made the announcement Saturday night, adding that Michael Hutchinson will begin practicing with the team on Sunday.
Mrazek did not rejoin his teammates for the third period of Thursday's loss to the Ottawa Senators after showing some discomfort late in the second.
On Saturday, the Maple Leafs were forced to sign University of Toronto goaltender Alex Bishop to a one-day contract to backup Jack Campbell. The Maple Leafs were unable to call Hutchinson up Saturday due to salary cap constraints.
“It just comes down to the fact the flat cap has created some situations here that are a lot more difficult to manage even than they were a year ago, when we had a taxi squad and goalie emergency and all that kind of stuff,” Keefe explained pre-game.
“A lot of teams have already gone through it last season, and I suspect a lot more will this season, with the rules going back to normal and not necessarily having the COVID exemptions.”
The Maple Leafs return to the ice Monday when they host the New York Rangers.
