Rasmus Sandin's season was barely getting started before it appears to have come to an abrupt stop.
Per Sportsnet's Chris Johnston, the 20-year-old defenceman is likely to be sidelined several weeks with a foot injury after blocking a shot during the Toronto Marlies' season opener, just his second pro game this year.
Marlies coach Greg Moore told reporters Tuesday that the 2018 first-round pick (29th overall) was day-to-day with a bone contusion.
Sandin was sent down to the Marlies by the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday after suiting up in just a single game and notching one assist.
In 2019-20, he put up eight points in 28 appearances with the Leafs and added 15 in 21 with the Marlies.
