NHL Trade Deadline Blog: Wings-Capitals finish the day with a blockbuster

The Hockey Central panel react to the news that the Washington Capitals have made a blockbuster trade for Anthony Mantha.

The 3:00 p.m. ET deadline has passed and the dust has settled on one of the stranger trade seasons in memory.

Without the usual build up to the big day, with trades being completed a week or more out, the landscape was mostly quiet until this past weekend. The Lightning traded for David Savard on Saturday to get the ball rolling and then, late on Sunday, Toronto, Pittsburgh and Boston each made big moves.

Deadline day itself started slow, but finished with a bang as Washington and Detroit came together for a legitimate blockbuster. Here is a recap of everything that happened.
