Connor McDavid's post-season injury has been revealed.
The Edmonton Oilers captain played through a fracture "around the foot, ankle area," head coach Kris Knoblauch said on Saturday.
McDavid was a game-time decision for Game 5 and 6 of the Oilers' first-round loss to the Anaheim Ducks, but wound up playing in both.
Knoblauch added that McDavid was "playing through a lot pain."
The Art Ross Trophy winner as the league's top points-getter was relatively quiet in the Oilers' six-game elimination at the hands of the Ducks, recording just one goal and five assists with a minus-eight.
McDavid still played 23:32 per game.
"It's not easy, guys playing through things," McDavid said. "It sucks, really. But everyone does it and we needed to find a way to be better and we didn't, I didn't."
Although he didn't get into specifics, McDavid said the injury limited his mobility to a certain extent: "Change of direction, tough. Stops and starts, tough."
Teammate Jason Dickinson, who missed Game 2 and 3, battled a similar fracture, per Knoblauch. He finished his playoffs with two goals and one assist in four games.
"It affected their play but a lot of admiration for them for wanting to be out there and contributing as much as they did in the playoffs," Knoblauch said.
