The Edmonton Oilers signed goaltender Ryan Fanti of the University of Minnesota-Duluth to a two-year deal on Monday.

The contract doesn't kick in until next season and Fanti will join the AHL's Bakersfield Condors on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the 2021-22 campaign.

Fanti posted a 20-12-4 record, including seven shutouts, along with a 1.83 goals-against average and a .929 save percentage during 37 games this season.

The 22-year-old from Thunder Bay, Ont., wrapped up his collegiate career this past Saturday as Minnesota-Duluth lost 2-1 to Denver in the NCAA regional finals.
