The Pittsburgh Penguins are keeping one of their mid-season acquisitions around.
Defenceman Ilya Solovyov has signed a one-year, $850,000 contract to remain with the Penguins through the 2026-27 season, the team announced Thursday.
The Penguins acquired Solovyov in January from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a 2026 seventh-round pick and winger Valtteri Puustinen.
In 14 regular-season games with Pittsburgh, the 25-year-old had five assists and played an average of 14:06 of ice time.
Originally selected by the Flames 205th overall in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft, the Belarusian blue liner has one goal and 11 assists in 45 career NHL games split between the Flames, Avalanche and Penguins.
