The New York Rangers are adding some talent up front.
New York acquired forward Pavel Dorofeyev from the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
The Rangers are sending the 26th- and 92nd-overall picks in the 2026 draft and a top-10 protected first-round pick in 2028 to complete the trade. The 2026 first originally belonged to the Dallas Stars.
The 25-year-old was set to become a restricted free agent on July 1, but Friedman reported that Dorofeyev and the Rangers are working on a seven-year extension with an annual-average value around $11 million.
Dorofeyev, 25, is coming off a breakout year with the Golden Knights in which he put up career highs in goals (37), assists (27) and points (64).
In 22 playoff games, the Russian stayed hot with 12 goals and four assists.
Selected in the third round of the 2019 draft by the Golden Knights, Dorofeyev has now posted 72 goals over his last two seasons, playing all 82 games each time.
Over 231 career games, he has 92 goals and 57 assists.
